Delilah: The Making of Red by Jessica Sorensen

If you want rainbows and unicorns then you should not read Jessica Sorensen's novels. Yes they have love in them but sometimes you have to go through hell to get to that point.

 

The Making of Red is just a free short story that goes with the Nova series but can be read as a standalone story but I would suggest reading the other Nova series books because they are very good!!

 

Only Jessica could make me go from thinking that Delilah is a total bitch to feeling sorry for her! Delilah started off with a good life but after her father decided that he wanted to go off and have another perfect family things went down hill. Her mother started sleeping around and not giving her the attention that she needed. Delilah was a quiet girl that was a great dancer until she meet Dylan.

 

After she meets Dylan she starts becoming Red. Delilah was not used to guys giving her attention because her mom got most of it so when Dylan starts giving it to her she doesn't know how to act. He changes her and not for the good. She gets into some bad stuff and even gives up her dancing. In the end we are left not really knowing what is going to happen to her but I hope that we find out in the other books coming out in the Nova series.

 

Jessica writes books that will make you appreciate the life you have. Like I said earlier you are going to get a REAL story where the characters go through hell to get the love they deserve. I love Jessica's books because you can find at least a little something to relate to. I rate this short story with 4 out of 5 stars.

Kate Bell views Winter, her home town, as a run down, ancient place. The way she describes it makes me think of where I grew up in a way. Small town, older people stay while younger ones leave instead of keeping business in town to make it prosper. Her dad is a cop, and she is in school for criminology. She has no reason to stay and doesn't want to move back. Her family treats her as she is twelve and her dad and mom is very over bearing. Everyone knows everyone and nothing ever happens. That is until one summer when she comes home from college and a stranger arrives. 

Ben Parker is tall, handsome, and mysterious. He has a secret that only one person in the small town of Winter knows, Mrs. Merriweather. Ben has a dark past and doesn't want to be defined from it. Though that is the first thing that Kate's dad does. 

Kate and Ben have a connection and things get hot and steamy, but he wants to push her away because of his secret. She doesn't care what it is, she just wants to be with him. 

This is a great short read and I love the ending! If you want a mysterious love story this is the book for you. 

I give it 4 out of 5 stars!
